WHERE CAN I BUY CARBON 2M?

The natural way to herd health
Cattle are a significant source of methane emissions due to the mechanics of their digestion. Methane is a powerful greenhouse gas, 25 times more effective at trapping heat in the atmosphere than carbon dioxide. According to a US EPA study in 2015, cows are responsible for 26% of America’s total methane emissions. However, recent studies show that if cattle consume carbon as part of their diet, it can help reduce the amount of methane they produce.
Moreover, charcoal has overall benefits to animal health including improved overall gut health and increased milk production in dairy cows. Carbon is a win-win for both the farmer and the environment. Titan is working closely with research facilities to generate the necessary approvals to allow us to introduce carbon into the Canadian farming marketplace as a feed supplement.

The true extent of carbon’s usefulness in our lives is just now being explored by companies like Titan. Studies have found found that when it was added to animal feed, initially as a colourant, the animals recovered from illnesses faster, and required fewer or no antibiotics to do so. Not only that but dairy cattle produced significantly more milk and the barns smelled better.

WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS ARE SAYING
Janie Jenson, Regina, SK
"I had a coming three-year-old bull that suffered severe weight loss over the course of a couple or weeks. He was eating well, but not digesting anything.... I was told to try antibiotic therapy for a week, but there were no changes in symptoms by the third week... I prepared to put him down since he’d lost so much weight. Before I did that, I considered trying Carbon 2M to see if it would have any effect...I felt it was remarkable that he went from the brink of euthanization to a breeding bull in only four months. [The vet]didn’t even recognize him as the same bull."

Vern Luther, Riskin Hope Farms, Craik, SK:
"I added Carbon 2M at an inclusion rate of 1% in my regular bull ration.... I noticed right away that there was less smell in the bull’s feces...Not long after feeding the ration with Carbon 2M, I also noticed that the bulls were looking better, their coats shinier and they seemed healthier overall...the following year I tried Carbon 2M in my Calf Creep and my Bull Ration for the season. This time I saw even better results. Not only did I see the same benefits as the year before, but this year I saw practically no coccidiosis in my calves. One calf showed symptoms but bounced back immediately after feeding it some pure charcoal."

WHAT THE EXPERTS ARE SAYING
Progressive Dairyman magazine ran an article on the use of charcoal for heard health. In Can charcoal close the door on antibiotics? (Issue 9, September 2018) Kathleen Draper, the U.S. director of the Ithaka Institute for Carbon Intelligence felt positive about its use. “Since biochar has been used for years in Europe, our team has been interested in the benefits it can have on our soils and with animal agriculture,” she says. “I was recently in Austria, where I toured a large poultry farm that uses biochar in their feeds. The animals love it, the producers are able to eliminate antibiotic use, and the odour of the litter has been significantly decreased.”

This article focuses on the potential for methane reduction within the animal's gut biome, as well as the improvements to the soil that biochar, once digested, can make.
