The Craik Processing Facility

The Craik Processing Facility

Titan installed the Craik Processing Facility pilot bio-refinery in 2008.  The modular facility represents a unique proprietary solution for the clean, healthy, and economically valuable approach to handling forestry and agricultural residues while producing value-added by-products.  The bio-refinery is one of only a few such refineries in North America and represents the commitment and investment Titan has made to the growth of clean technology.

The Titan designed pyrolsys plant installed at the facility demonstrates an excellent, productive approach over other methods of producing bio-char and bio-oil. The biochar sequesters carbon in a much more stable form than the materials it is derived from.  The biochar produced by this exclusive pyrolsys system is capable of storing at high efficiency than biochar made via traditional approaches.

Since its installation, Titan has already used the facility to convert compost, construction and demolition materials, land clearing waste, flax straw, wheat straw, oat hulls, rendering waste and other forms of bio-mass to value-added products like bio-char (Mayan Gold) heating logs (Maratherm), bulk absorbents, compost and coloured mulch.

The facility is actively reducing the amount of compostable material, and construction materials going to local landfills.  It's small footprint means similar plants could be built near community centre landfills or sorting areas and greatly extend the capacity of the landfill while producing clean carbon by-products useful for reducing the carbon footprint of large industrial installations and communities around the world.  As the need grows to be environmentally conscious, and the population increases, the plants can be expanded readily due to the modular design.
